  • Certificate of Theological Studies | The Bible Seminary

    The Certificate of Theological Studies (CTS) program offers vital, graduate-level education beneficial for anyone serving or who wants to serve in Bible-based, Christ-centered ministry leadership. The curriculum includes 7 CORE and 2 ELECTIVE graduate courses offering foundational studies in key subject areas in conjunction with mentored instruction through common educational experiences shared among all TBS degree programs. Certificate of Theological Studies The Certificate of Theological Studies (CTS) is a 9-course, 27-hour non-degree program that offers vital educational experiences beneficial for anyone serving or who wants to serve in biblically-based, Christ-centered ministry leadership. The curriculum includes 7 CORE graduate courses common among all TBS degree programs, plus 2 ELECTIVE courses selected from any other available options. Fundamental skills and topics studied include hermeneutics, church history and theology, ministry leadership, public speaking/teaching, and spiritual formation, as well as a survey of all 66 books of the Bible and in-depth studies of numerous biblical books. Non-degree students are billed at the Audit rate per course (equivalent to the tuition cost of 1-credit hour). However, CTS students also have the option to earn 3-hour, graded credit by paying the full tuition and fees, attending and participating in course sessions, submitting all assignments, exams, and projects. Earned credit hours can be applied toward a graduate degree program should they desire to do so. Learn More Apply Program Description Study all 66 Bible books; major movements and personalities in church history; and the thematic, chronological, and geographical flow of the entire Bible. Gain confidence in teaching and/or preaching skills, and develop ministry skills in counseling and leadership. CTS students are eligible to take any TBS graduate course. TBS generally offers at least one CORE course every semester at each location where graduate courses are offered. Students can take more than one course per semester, without needing to follow the sequence. Students may take their two elective courses at any point. There are no prerequisites for this program.     Board Member < Back Previous Next Raymond Wiggins Board Member Raymond Wiggins , MD, DDS, MDiv, has served as the President of Texas Oral and Facial Surgery, PA since 2003. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He serves in healthcare leadership including serving a term on the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Board, the Edward C. Hinds Academy Foundation Board, and the Dental Review Committee of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners since being appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in 2019. Dr. Wiggins serves in many leadership roles for nonprofits and his church. He serves as a board member of Life Church Houston. One of his favorite ministry roles is as the leader of the baptism team at Life Church Houston, because he loves helping new believers take their next steps in Jesus. Dr. Wiggins is the author of multiple scientific articles, including articles in the American Journal of Physiology and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery . He is the author of Weeding Out the Myths About Marijuana , a series of books that illuminate the dangers of marijuana from a medical and biblical standpoint. He has spoken about this subject at the Good Drug Policy Summit in D.C. and has been a featured speaker for Parent Action Network. He has been interviewed on Fox News Fox and Friends and CBN News. Dr. Wiggins holds several graduate and doctoral degrees, including a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from U. T. Houston McGovern Medical School, Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Texas A&M School of Dentistry, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Regent University. He has been awarded Who’s Who in America.     < Back Dr. Craig Evans TBS Adjunct Professor Bachelor of Arts in History (1974), Claremont McKenna College Master of Divinity (1977), Western Baptist Seminary Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (1980), Claremont Graduate University Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (1983), Claremont Graduate University DHabil (2009), Károli Gáspár Református University Craig is a well-known evangelical scholar, an elected member of the prestigious Society of New Testament Studes (SNTS), Director of the Christian Thinkers Society Fellows Program and Strategic Studies, and the John Bisagno Distinguished Professor of Christian Origins at Houston Baptist University. He has also been awarded the D.Habil. by the Karoli Gaspar Reformed University in Budapest. Evans began his teaching career at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and then taught at Trinity Western University in British Columbia for twenty-one years where he directed the graduate program in Biblical Studies and founded the Dead Sea Scrolls Institute. Evans then taught for thirteen years at the Divinity College at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, and was a Visiting Fellow at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. Author and editor of more than seventy books and hundreds of articles and reviews, Professor Evans has given lectures at Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, Yale, and other universities, colleges, seminaries, and museums, such as the Field Museum in Chicago, the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa, and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. He is a Fox News Opinion contributor and also regularly lectures and gives talks at popular conferences and retreats on the historical Jesus, Archaeology, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Bible.     Teaching Assistant < Back Previous Next Jordan McClinton Teaching Assistant Jordan McClinton currently serves as a teaching assistant at The Bible Seminary and is the co-director of the Joshua, Judges, and Jesus Museum exhibit. He is an excavation Square Supervisor with the Associates for Biblical Research currently digging at Ancient Shiloh. Jordan has worked in numerous corporate roles over the past 20 years as well as an Associate Pastor at The Waters Church in Katy, Texas since 2012. He lives in Katy with his wife Angela and three daughters.

D. in Archaeology and Biblical History (2020), Veritas International University Dr. Stripling serves as Provost, Vice-President of Donor Relations, and Director of the Archaeology Institute at The Bible Seminary in Katy, Texas. Stripling is the Director of Excavations for the Associates for Biblical Research (ABR) at Ancient Shiloh (2017 to present). Previously, Stripling directed the ABR excavations at Khirbet el-Maqatir, served as Field Supervisor at Tall el-Hammam in Jordan, and as a supervisor of the Temple Mount Sifting Project in Jerusalem. Stripling did his graduate studies at the University of Texas (M.A.), Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (M.A.), and Veritas International University (Ph.D.). Stripling serves as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Near East Archaeological Society and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, popular magazines, and books. He is a popular speaker at churches and conferences around the world and a guest on numerous television programs and documentaries such as Fox News, The 700 Club, The New York Times, TBN, History Channel, and Discovery Channel.     Adjunct Professor < Back Previous Next Dr. Matthew Glassman Adjunct Professor Dr. Glassman is an Assistant Professor of Religion at Fairfield University. He has a BGS in Political Science from the University of Kansas, masters degrees in theology and Biblical Studies from Franciscan University and Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Yale University. He has been excavating in Israel and Iraq since 2014.
