Psalm 121 is one of the Psalms of Ascents—songs sung by the people of Israel as they traveled upward toward the Temple in Jerusalem. As they walked, they lifted their eyes to the surrounding hills and asked a timeless question: Where does our help come from?

Their answer was clear and confident: Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. This psalm paints a beautiful picture of worship on the move. The people weren’t simply heading to worship; they were worshiping as they walked. Like David and generations after him, they chose to trust God—not because everything was easy or fully understood, but because there was no one else worthy of their trust.

Psalm 121 invites us to live the same way. As we walk through life, serve others, and approach worship, we are called to lift our eyes and trust the One who created all things. Our help does not come from the hills—but from the Lord who made them.
