Scripture:“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 Today’s Faith Lesson comes from Psalm 46:1, a powerful reminder that God is not only strong—He is near. When difficulty comes, Scripture tells us that there is a place we can go and find refuge in Him.
Throughout the Bible, we see images of refuge. There were cities of refuge, places where people could flee for safety. There were towers and strongholds where people ran in times of danger. These physical places pointed to a deeper spiritual truth: God Himself is our refuge.
Jesus alluded to this truth when He spoke of the Tower of Siloam. Unlike towers built by human hands, God’s refuge is secure. It is built on the rock. He does not fail, collapse, or abandon those who come to Him.
In times of crisis, fear, or uncertainty, God invites us to run to Him—not away from Him. He is our stronghold. He is our strength. He is our ever-present help.
This Faith Lesson encourages us to remember where our safety truly lies. When trouble comes, may we run to the Lord and find refuge in Him.
