Dr. Brenda Martin
Adjunct Professor

Dr. Martin is a native Houstonian that has called Katy home for over 30 years. She is the wife of Jeff Martin with three adult children, Erica, Ross, and Trevor; and her one and only granddaughter, Lilly. She has served on the staff at her home church, Grace Fellowship, since 2001 and is the founding pastor of The Great Southwest Prayer Center which is next door to The Bible Seminary. She has absorbed the DNA of prayer from both her mother and her pastor, Jim Leggett. She believes God is a relational God that exists in complete unity with the Son and the Holy Spirit—meant to be enjoyed and loved intimately. She finds great purpose in helping others connect with God through prayer, Scripture, and worship. As a TBS alumni, she was amongst the first Masters of Divinity students forging the path for others to pursue the knowledge of God in higher education. She graduated Cum Laude in 2015. She went on to attain her Doctorate of Ministry from The King’s University in Southlake, Texas in 2021. Her dissertation, The Essential Elements of Prayer that Produce Transformation, is a culmination of over two decades of both personal prayer, local church prayer ministry, and citywide prayer movement participation. This work chronicles the biblical and contemporary prayer movements that wrote--and is still writing--history.
